ESTA & Entry Step
All travelers entering the United States under a Japanese passport are required to obtain ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) in advance.
We strongly recommend submitting your application at least 72 hours before departure.
❖ What is ESTA?
ESTA is an online travel authorization required for Japanese passport holders entering the U.S. for tourism.
If you do not have a U.S. passport, visa, or permanent residency, you must apply for ESTA to enter the country.
Please make sure to check your application status before your trip.
❖ Passport Validity
To enter the United States, your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
If your passport is close to expiring, please consider renewing it in advance.
❖ Immigration Procedures
Upon arrival in the U.S., you will go through several steps:
・Present your passport
・Submit your customs declaration (online or via the form distributed on the plane)
・Fingerprint scan
・Photograph taken
All procedures are straightforward as long as you follow the airport instructions, so please rest assured.
